AltoBeam Releases Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Chip

Publish Time:2025-05-06

AltoBeam successfully achieved mass production of its first dual-band (2.4GHz & 5GHz) Wi-Fi 6 chip ATBM6162 in Q4 2024. Fully compliant with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards, the chip supports all MCS0~MCS11 modulation modes at the PHY layer, delivering Max. PHY rate of 287Mbps for both transmit and receive paths. It also supports exclusive Wi-Fi 6 technologies including OFDMA, MU-MIMO and DCM.

The ATBM6162 is pin-to-pin hardware compatible with ATBM6132C, AltoBeam's second-generation dual-band Wi-Fi 4 chip launched in parallel, and features unified compatible driver software. Benefiting from this compatibility, end customers can deploy either Wi-Fi 4 or Wi-Fi 6 variants based on identical hardware and software design for a single product platform. This drastically shortens R&D lead time for product families and reduces inventory costs for raw materials such as PCBs.

The launch of the dual-band Wi-Fi 6 solution further expands AltoBeam's Wi-Fi product portfolio and enables more comprehensive one-stop chip selection for customers. To date, AltoBeam's mass-produced Wi-Fi lineup covers the full specifications below:

    • Dual-band Wi-Fi 4 & Wi-Fi 6

    • Single-band Wi-Fi 4 & Wi-Fi 6

    • Ultra-low-power single-band Wi-Fi 4 & Wi-Fi 6

AltoBeam's Wi-Fi chips have earned widespread recognition from global customers over the years across niche markets including smart security and TV mainboards, with shipments ranking among the world's top tier. In real-scenario testing, ATBM6162 has won favor from leading domestic and overseas security brands thanks to consistent throughput and superior performance, and end devices embedded with ATBM6162 have already entered large-scale commercial availability.

ATBM6162 boasts extensive application coverage beyond wireless security terminals, with promising adoption potential across MiFi devices, printers, POS terminals, robotic vacuum cleaners and many more categories.
